The key to effective weight loss diet is the ability, in my opinion, in combining fruits and vegetables effectively in order to maximize the their effects on our bodies and to achieve weight loss in a sensible way.

It is important that, not only do we need to interpret what benefits we receive from our fruits and vegetables but to be able to combine them so that we can achieve fullness which prevents the need to snack on food that contains loads of calories, to alleviate hunger pangs.

The aim is to lower the amount of calories that we consume daily and replace that with food that are filling and gives the body healthy benefits.

How do I achieve this?   (Considering that when I embarked on this road I was a size 18, now  down to a size 14)

  1. Banana  – it is a well known fact that banana is very filling, it is easy to use in your diet as you can take it with you.  Banana contains Tryptophan, a protein that the body converts into serotonin which is known to make you happy, relax and generally improve your mood which in turn allow the feel good factor.
  •  Apples  - be it green or red, we all know the old adage “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”.  Eating this fruit is extremely beneficial.  So, if you are looking to keep your stomach fuller for longer, then a banana and an apple are just the treat you are looking for.  It is up to the individual how much of these two fruits that you consume daily.

Some individuals  will manage on just one of each whilst others, especially those that are changing their eating habits will consume more until they learn how to control eating rather than allow eating to control them.

Cabbage – whether they are steamed are shredded and eaten raw, they are very filling, especially if they are combined with an avocado.  Cabbage provides the necessary vitamins and avocado provides the amount of calories that the body requires.  Once again the aim is to eat fruits and vegetables that are filling but contains fewer calories.

In my experience, when I first began changing my eating habits, listed below is how I began my day.

Morning between 8 – 9 am – 1 banana, 1 apple plus 1 cup of black coffee, no sugar

Afternoon between 12 – 1pm 1 medium size cabbage shredded and steamed 1 small avocado and a generous amount of lettuce

Evening between 4 – 5pm 2 slices of Coley (fish) cooked in the microwave ( see pack for cooking instructions) plus a generous amount of mixed vegetables, please note: the type of fish is a matter of choice.

The above meals offer me all the necessary vitamins and proteins that my body requires and reduces the level of calorie intake.  Furthermore, I refrain from eating after 8pm however, if I do get any hunger pangs which one will do in the first weeks of the diet, I would have a banana and drink around a half pint of water that not only satisfies the hunger but allow you to maintain your diet effectively.

One of the most important aspects of dieting is to is to speak to your doctor, especially if you suffer from obesity dieting become more difficult and therefore by combining diet with advice from your General Practitioner this will be beneficial to you in the long term and will most likely keep you on tract to lose the weight and feel good within yourself.
